This movie tells the story of four women that all go through men and marital problems. It identifies a problem and provides a solution, each woman coming up with her own way to deal with things. It takes place in Phoenix and it explores the lives of four black woman, struggling to find themselves.
In a larger sense, the book has way more details than the movie. The way the caracters are potryed in the book is wonderfully depicted by the actors and actressess in the movie. Bernadine is the desperate, sort of strong character. Robin is very dependent on a man. Lionel is the fake bachelor. Savanah seems to be the woman who attempts to hold the group together. The overall theme of the book and the movie is to teach women to be more independent in their own lives.
